Expanding your skillset (from cards to prints and home accessories)

Happy Sunday & Welcome back to the blog! The past few days since our launch have already taught us so much and only fueled our excitement to continue to learn! When we first popped on here we discussed how current events changed our POVs and relationships. With the alignment of the pandemic we also noticed the correlation between our relationships to other people and to our environment. Staring at the same four walls each day became uninspiring and there are only so many places a couch can fit in an apartment.

It was the most simple and natural transition from cards to making wall prints. Obviously, both within the same realm of printmaking, but slightly different in practice. Prints are something that's easily interchangeable and you have the most control over. A lot of us may live in housing that doesn’t allow you to paint a wall but command-stripping a light frame in its place can be a game-changer.

That simple addition of colour or personality that reflects your interests can bring new depth to your space. So we couldn't stop there.

Cards and prints are great to look at but sometimes you want that feeling in a more tangible form. Something you can curl into and get cozy, especially during the winter time. We'd like to imagine that receiving one of our blankets or pillows as a gift is like giving a hug from afar.

Each home accessory is one of a kind, hand knit, sewn or crocheted which is why we have limited quantities. Currently, our yarn is consumer grade with a focus on using recycled content and the fabric portion is 100% Organic cotton which either comes in a natural finish or is hand dyed using natural pigments. Although our pillows and throws are not completely eco-friendly, we know they'll stand the test of time and hopefully alleviate the need to discard them or cause waste. In the future we hope to adjust these products but for now we're confident in our humble starting point as we continue to learn in this new chapter.

We here @thelevendart love new projects and challenging ourselves with different materials, our sole inspiration being to provide you with warm moments that allow for a pause in the day to day chaos. We look forward to pivoting our skills in new directions over time and to continue growing our stock.

Just because you start with a targeted skillset doesn't mean you're stuck on a narrow path and not allowed to wander out. Often it's when we wander that we find ourselves in exciting and new places surpassing our initial expectations. As we branch out our core values remain the same and we welcome the change.

A hug from us to you,

xx The Levend Art xx
